Heritage Office Furnishings is a major contributor to the economy of BC through its dominant position in the local office furniture business providing rewarding careers to over 150 people in British Columbia. We model ourselves based on the set Steelcase standards for protection of human rights, employment equity and ethical practices.

Heritage has developed an Employee Manual that is introduced to all new employees upon entering employment. Within the Manual policies such as our “Drug-Free Workplace Policy” and “Unacceptable Activities” are explained and a section on “Where to get Help” contacts is provided. It also outlines our policy on respect in the workplace and access to workplace harassment advisors.

Heritage Office Furnishings demonstrates community support within the local British Columbia area.  Heritage continues to support over 25 different charitable organizations to the yearly sum of $ 65,000.00.  These organizations include the BC Cancer Foundation and the Union Gospel Mission.  Heritage’s Employee functions have a local community emphasis for example one summer picnic was held in concert with the celebration of our local community - Marpole Days.  During the Christmas season, in lieu of mailing cards, Heritage staff are encouraged to send e-cards cards to their clients. For each card e-mailed out, Heritage donates the equivalent of one Turkey dinner to the Union Gospel. Other examples of our community support includes donating our labour for the installation of furnishings for the Dr. Peter Centre located adjacent to St. Paul’s Hospital. Heritage supports employees in the Breast Cancer Foundation walks, the VGH Foundation and Aunt Lee’s (training for street kids).

Most recently, Heritage was recognized for contributing not only goods for sale, but also labour and trucking services to the Interior Designer Institute of BC Garage Sales fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.
